HMS attendance drawings continue! The winners for Thursday are Kolton Karnowski, James McGuire, and Leland Scoggins. Being present everyday until summer break is important! We want to see our students' smiling faces.

8th graders,
We have loved being a part of your journey whether it was for a few months or all three years! We hope you've enjoyed middle school and wish you the best of luck as you head to high school! We encourage you this summer to add the Haughton High School page to your app where you currently see Haughton Middle School and follow their facebook page. Checking your emails will also help you stay up to date.

Madison Peterson, Jiyanni Norwood, and Zane Griffith will be enjoying sweet treats courtesy of Streetcar Station Snowballs! They are finishing what they started and keeping the momentum going until the very last bell.

Congratulations to Melanie Herrera, Reese Jacobs, and Melanie Jamerson for making their attendance a top priority! The countdown is on to Summer Break but we still want to see your faces everyday until then.

Haughton Middle School is proud to share that our students and staff collected an amazing 75 pounds of can tabs throughout this school year for the Ronald McDonald House!
We were honored to welcome Ellen LeClair, representing the Ronald McDonald House, to accept our donation and share more about the incredible impact these small tabs can make. The tabs are recycled and the funds raised help provide support, comfort, and resources for families with children receiving medical care. Every tab collected helps families stay close to their loved ones during difficult times.
We are especially excited to support the Shreveport Ronald McDonald House during its very first year of operation! Thank you to everyone who saved tabs, donated, and helped make a difference in the lives of families in our community.

It is our last full week of school, and it is jammed packed!
On Monday our 8th grade students will participate in our 8th grade Farewell Flowers. HMS will provide each 8th grade student ONE flower. This flower is to be given to an adult at HMS that has invested in them, made a mark on their middle school career, or been "their person". This is free for students. It is sometimes difficult for them to narrow it down to one person. They are welcome to write letters to other adults, but they will only be provided with one flower.
Monday afternoon students who purchased a yearbook will receive them. We will have a yearbook signing party that afternoon. All students will be allowed to attend the "party" and sign yearbooks. Please note, students who sign inappropriate things or mess up a students' yearbook will have disciplinary consequences. Students are not to bring shirts to sign. Students will want to bring a pen or writing utensil to sign each other's yearbooks.
Our current NJHS members will have their End of the Year Celebration on Monday. This will count for their monthly meeting. Please contact Mrs. Wood for more information.
Tuesday all Behaving Bucs (for the 4th quarter) are invited to attend the Faculty vs Students basketball game. It will be at the end of the school day. Students must be a behaving buc to attend.
Our Athletic Department will have their Spring Athletic Assembly on May 12. Every athlete will not receive an award. Awards will be for All Academic Teams, Most Improved, and Most Valuable Players.
Our students who earned Behaving Bucs for the entire second semester will be attending field trips this week. Main Event - May 13, Excalibur - May 14, and Six Flags - May 15. Please reach out to Marc.Braden@BossierSchools.org for more information.
8th grade students will have their job shadowing day on May 13. Permission slips were due last week. Student who did not turn in a permission slip and do not come to school will be marked absent. Please contact your 8th grade social studies teacher for more information.
Football tryouts for the HMS 26-27 school year will be May 13 and May 14! A waiver must be signed before trying out. It is the student's responsibility to get a waiver from Coach Newton. Students must wear their gym uniform to tryouts. No other equipment is needed.
Thursday 8th graders will participate in Outsiders Day to go along with the novel they are reading. Ideas on how to dress can be found: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1K0WkQW2mMYMdNyq0AR0VtQSgIjnOmOt3Y8K7bzts5QA/edit?usp=sharing
