Curtis Families Get ready to roar into summer reading with the Curtis Elementary Library! 🐯📚 Avoid the "summer slide" and join the exciting 9-week "Genre Games" Summer Reading Challenge on Google Classroom! Each week, you'll embark on a thrilling adventure, exploring a new genre. Here's how to play: Discover a new genre each week! Choose a book that fits the genre criteria. Provide text evidence to prove your book belongs to that genre. Fill in your book title, author, and evidence each week. Submit your completed document via Google Classroom at the end of the challenge (June 1 - July 31) and earn a fantastic reading reward when school is back in session! Our students had a blast learning all about the important role that locks and dams play in our community and how they help manage water flow and transportation. Even more exciting — the rangers gave water safety demonstrations to help prepare our kids for a safe and fun summer on the water! 💧🛟 Want to keep your own family safe this summer? Don’t miss the FREE Lifejacket Giveaway happening on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 9:00 AM as part of the KTBS Freedom Fest Series. Each year, Curtis Tigers participate in the Louisiana Young Reader’s Choice Award program sponsored by the State Library of Louisiana. Students are encouraged to read three or more of the nominated books to participate in a state-wide election to vote for their favorite. If students read all 15 of the nominated books, they are recognized by the State Library for their efforts. This year we had one student complete this amazing feat. Congratulations to Harrison Tucker!

Get ready to fly with the Eagles! 🦅💨 Calling all future 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for Cross Country try-outs! Join us on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Parkway High School Track at 5:30 PM. Lace up those running shoes, bring your sporty gear and a water bottle, and see if you've got what it takes to soar with the team! A parent meeting will follow the try-outs. Don't forget, permission slips are REQUIRED and can be picked up at the EGMS front office. Let's hit the ground running and have an awesome season!
